Sound of Music II

A Los Angeles Times op-ed cartoon reprinted in today's Journal Sentinel:

I'm not laughing. The von Trapps had to leave their beautiful Austrian homeland to get away from the Nazis and protect the family from the horrors of World War II. To depict Maria and the children with guns goes against everything they gave up in order to live in peace and freedom.

Besides, the point David Horsey was trying to make with his cartoon: that since gunplay in PG-13 films has tripled it stands to reason sequels will then be three times as violent, doesn't hold true in this case. For one, Sound of Music was never rated PG-13, or even PG. And second, there already is a Sound of Music sequel, next Thursday as a matter-of-fact. Starring Carrie Underwood as Maria, this live stage performance on Ch. 4 at 7:00 is guaranteed to be family-friendly and very G-rated.

I've been looking forward to the December 5th show ever since first hearing about it months ago. I both love Carrie Underwood and The Sound of Music. Did you happen to catch the Sound of Music preview on Ch. 4 tonight? It's going to be a good one!
