Upon registering, each participant commits to raising $100 or more to support the fight against cancer. The American Cancer Society has created this goal for participants to allow youth athletes to have a meaningful impact on this fight through their Coaches vs. Cancer event. Funds raised at the “Ultimate Sports Spectacular” will help the American Cancer Society impact the lives of those touched by cancer within the community.

“USS is giving young athletes a unique opportunity to contribute to the Society’s mission of saving lives, by helping people stay well, by helping them get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back,” said Cody Allen, of the American Cancer Society. “Participants who give their time, energy and financial commitment to this exciting event will have a chance to showcase their talents and join the fight.”

In conjunction with USS, Special Olympics track & field and obstacle course challenges will be part of the day, with more than 200 Special Olympics athletes expected to participate in competition. Rita Stelpflug of Bi-County Special Olympics added, “This is a terrific opportunity for all athletes to be challenged and have fun in this great event! Our Special Olympians welcome the opportunity to participate!”

Entertainment will be provided during the lunch hour break by St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy’s pipe band and Silver rifles drill team. “St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy is delighted to provide the venue for an event that supports these two important charities,” said Jack H. Albert, Jr., president of St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy. “We also are excited to be able to provide entertainment from two of our cadet groups whose talent is of the highest caliber.
