Player to watch:Kendall Gould. The multisport athlete has already stood out on the track and basketball court, and he's progressed to the point where he will likely be one of the top receivers in the conference while doubling in the secondary for the Northstars.

Keep an eye on: Justice Graf. Coach Matt Harris said the lineman squatted 585 pounds and is the strongest lineman he's ever coached. Alec Barth and Adam Steingraeber are also back along the line, meaning North will have some experience in a pretty key area.

We say:North's JV team went 8-1 last year, and Harris pointed out his team's athleticism is reflected in the number of players on the team who have achieved All-Conference standing in other sports. Strength coach Jason Eisenman has played a role in enhancing North athletics across the board. The team will probably be improved, and if it were playing in any other conference, it would be a playoff-caliber team. But in the Classic 8, North will need to pull at least one major upset, and probably two, to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
