Police Report: July 25

July 25, 2012

1 A caller in the 100 block of North Washington Avenue reported around 9:20 a.m. July 14 finding a dead rabbit in a trap in the backyard and the "dog is getting sick from (the) dead rabbit."

2 The contents of a purse were reportedly scattered throughout a yard in the 300 block of West Roberta Avenue around 9:30 a.m. July 14. It was believed to have been related to a report of a vehicle break-in call on Coolidge.

3 A radio was reportedly stolen from a vehicle and a glovebox gone through around 10:40 a.m. July 14 in the 1700 block of Oakdale Drive.

4 A wallet with $450 in cash was found around 2:15 p.m. in the 2400 block of Kossow Road and turned over to police, who followed up with the owner.

5 A man reported his head was bleeding and his "wife (was) throwing objects" during an argument around 2:30 p.m. July 14 in the 1100 block of Catherine Street.

6 A loud party that "made the whole apartment shake" was reported around 1 a.m. July 15 in the 1300 block of Fleetfoot Drive.

7 A lighted Japanese lantern was reported "floating about 25 feet above the road … toward the school" around 2:20 a.m. July 15 in the 2000 block of Summit Avenue.

8 A caller in the 800 block of South Comanche Lane reported around 7:30 a.m. July 15 that "a male somehow got through the back door and is sleeping on the caller's couch." The man apparently accidentally went into the wrong house.

9 A caller in the 100 block of North Moreland Boulevard reported around 7:40 a.m. July 15 finding the back door "standing wide open … appliances and furniture … moved around … (and the) refrigerator door … wide open). Nothing was taken … (and) it appeared someone may have entered the residence by accident."

10 A vehicle reportedly went through a retaining wall at a construction site around 10 a.m. July 15 near East Main Street and South Highway 164.

11 A male subject reportedly fell out of his wheelchair and into traffic around 1 p.m. July 15 in the 1400 block of Perkins Avenue.

12 A caller in the 200 block of Maria Street reported around 11:45 p.m. July 15 that her ex-boyfriend, who had "threatened to kill her in the past," tried to kick in the door. Police arrested the man, who was transported by ambulance after "claiming an asthma attack."

13 A caller in the 1600 block of Moccasin Trail reported around 12:30 a.m. July 16 that a teenager in a silver Jeep 4x4 drives around, "acting like an idiot," and that the subject also "makes bombs out of plastic containers and blows them up in the back field."

14 A window of a dark blue minivan in the 600 block of Linden Street was reportedly "shot out" some time during the night. It was reported at 7:40 a.m. July 16.

15 Someone reportedly threw a rock through the window of a residence and got into the house in the 300 block of Cambridge Avenue around 11 a.m. July 16.

16 Several juveniles were seen running from a grass fire near MacArthur Road and West St. Paul Avenue around 1:10 p.m. July 16. Police were able to locate several suspects.

17 An underground storage unit in the 1000 block of Delafield Street was reportedly broken and a Bose stereo, books and electronic equipment were missing. It was reported around 3:30 p.m. July 16.

18 A man who reportedly obtained a "brand new Audi" using identity theft at dealership in Brown Deer also tried to purchase a used Mercedes at a dealership at 2230 E. Moreland Blvd., but was unsuccessful. Police searched for the man, who reportedly had fled on foot.

19 A car reportedly "went flying around the corner and spun out, land(ing) in a grassy area" near Mulberry and Industrial lanes around 4:20 p.m. July 16. The three occupants, who appeared to be teens, exited the vehicle. The driver apparently thought the speed limit was 35.

20 A customer at a McDonald's drive-through window at 2340 E. Moreland Blvd. reportedly threw an empty soda bottle at an attendant and hit him in the chest around 4:30 p.m. July 16. The customer was angry that the business would not throw his garbage away for him because it was against company policy.

21 A caller in the 800 block of South University Drive reported around 5:30 p.m. July 16 that when the caller returned home he/she found the "garage door open and items askew in the house and dressers knocked over with drawers emptied out." The police found there was "forced entry" but no suspects were inside. Fingerprints were taken at the scene.

22 A woman in a wheelchair on a bus reported around 6 p.m. July 16 that "a male subject kept grabbing at her and touching her back and shoulders and laughing at her, telling her she wasn't handicapped," near Manhattan and Greenway Terrace.

23 A male juvenile was seen running from the 1800 block of Susan Circle around 10 a.m. July 16 with "items in his arms." He "was observed messing around with vehicles on Susan Circle (and) ran southbound through the apartments on Madera." Police were unable to locate the man.

24 A caller in the 1300 block of Poplar Drive reported around 11 p.m. July 16 that someone "tried cutting the exhaust to get the catalytic converter off" a vehicle.

25 A caller in the 1700 block of Haymarket Road reported around 2 p.m. July 17 that a "male (was) trying to get into his neighbor's vehicles."

26 Police escorted an elderly woman back to her apartment near Kensington Drive and West St. Paul Avenue around 2:30 a.m. July 17 after she was reported sitting inside the bus stop terminal in front of 1800 Kensington Drive. She told police she was lost and didn't know where she lived.

27 A vehicle in the 1800 block of Oakdale Drive was reportedly entered some time during the night and an iPod, GPS and $40 in wrapped quarters were taken. It was reported around 6 a.m. July 17.

28 A grass fire was reported in a median area near Oakdale Drive and South Highway 59 around 7:30 p.m. July 17.

29 Six people were reportedly fighting in a lot in the 1600 block of East Main Street. An ambulance was called for a 34-year-old male who had "pain in his head (and) neck (and) feels like he is going to have a seizure."

30 A caller in the 1000 block of Delafield Street reported around 11 a.m. July 18 that she was "dating a male from her church and he videotaped them having sex and now he is threatening to post the images on the Internet."

31 A woman was reportedly "yelling and screaming (and) trying to get in" a home in the 2200 block of Bluff Court to see her boyfriend around 1:30 p.m. July 18. Police took her into custody and "she was trying to kick out squad windows," so police called for a van.

32 A neighbor reported a fire at a home in the 2000 block of Coronado Street around 7:40 p.m. July 18. The exterior fire was "near (the) electric box by (the) air conditioner" and may have started from a grill. It was extinguished with a garden hose. Fire and police found nothing suspicious about the fire.

33 A vehicle reportedly hit a light pole, knocking it into the roadway by a BP station near Meadowbrook Road and Summit Avenue, and fled around 9:30 p.m. July 18.

34 A subject reportedly tried to get into a burnt-out building in the 300 block of Coolidge Avenue by using a crowbar around 10:30 a.m. July 19. The owner told police "they are not to be in the building."

35 A 1980s model black Mustang was reportedly "doing donuts" in parking lots in the 1500 block of Big Bend Road.

36 A woman in the 900 block of Eales Avenue reported to police that "her father just tried to rape her and she is now walking down the street" around 5:30 p.m. July 19.

37 A caller in the 1300 block of West Avenue reported "his semi-auto(matic) Mach 11 was stolen from a safe in his bedroom" around 10 p.m. July 19. Police observed a man fleeing the scene when they arrived. The gun was recovered.
