Police Report: July 12

July 11, 2012

1 A caller in the 900 block of Western Avenue expressed concern that children may get trapped inside a refrigerator and freezer left on a lawn overnight after a rummage sale around 8:20 a.m. June 30.

2 An ambulance was called for a 32-year-old male who suffered head and foot injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in the 1900 block of Bonnie Lane around 8:30 a.m. June 30. A caller had reported seeing two males running out of a building - one got into the striking vehicle and drove off, the other jumped on the hood of the car and tried to stab the tires with a knife. One man was arrested.

3 A man was arrested after a caller reported a fight between his dad and his brother around 9:30 a.m. June 30 in the 400 block of East College Avenue.

4 A theft of a GPS from a vehicle was reported around 11 a.m. June 30 in the 100 block of Corrina Boulevard.

5 A gold Hyundai Sonata was reportedly stolen after a couple took keys from Boucher Hyundai, 1583 E. Moreland Blvd., around 2:30 p.m. June 30. The vehicle was reportedly shut down by Hyundai's Blue Link satellite system.

6 A caller reported seeing "a female in the doorway" of Cousins, 530 W. Sunset Drive, "doing cocaine" around 3:20 p.m. June 30. The female reportedly left in a gray Dodge Neon.

7 A passer-by reported an older man, who apparently was affected by the heat, lying down and not moving in the grass median near Buckley and Baxter streets around 3:30 p.m. June 30.

8 Two male juveniles, wearing no shirts, were reportedly "causing damage to a vacant home" around 10 p.m. June 30 in the 400 block of Dunbar Avenue. "One of the subjects hurt his hand punching a door and was bleeding." They reportedly "took off in a black Escalade."

9 A subject who was "looking for his encampment, but … couldn't find it" was reported staggering in the middle of the road around 1:30 a.m. July 1 in the 400 block of Sentry Drive.

10 One man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after his truck hit a tree around 2:30 a.m. July 1 in the 900 block of Magnolia Drive.

11 "Lawn furniture taken overnight" in the 2500 block of Jacob Court was reported around 7 a.m. July 1.

12 An asphalt fire west of the Glacial Drumlin Trail near MacArthur Road and West St. Paul Avenue was reported around 12:40 p.m. July 1.

13 A school custodian caught two boys in the bushes, who had left empty liquor bottles and beer cans behind the building in the 2100 block of Summit Avenue around 1:30 p.m. July 1.

14 A woman was reportedly battered by her boyfriend and was "bleeding from the nose and (had) a broken tooth" around 7:40 p.m. July 1 in the 500 block of Oakland Avenue. A suspect was taken into custody.

15 A caller in the 700 block of North Moreland Boulevard reported around 11 a.m. July 2 that a neighbor threw dog feces near her van. The neighbor (who reportedly threw the dog feces) called to report that "he (the neighbor) put it on her driveway and left a note" because "the owner of a dog … lets it mess on his yard."

16 Two Petsafe wireless radio collar systems, valued at $349.99 each, were reported stolen around 1:30 p.m. July 2 from Pet World, 2410 E. Moreland Blvd. The thefts occurred on June 30.

17 A caller in the 1500 block of Summit Avenue reported "getting threatening mail from the FBI in Washington, D.C." around 1:45 p.m. July 2.

18 A caller in the 2000 block of South Grand Avenue reported the theft of two X-box games and a Play Station games around 8:45 p.m. July 2. The caller "suspects one of his brothers who resides with him of taking the game, but has no proof."

19 A car vs. deer accident was reported around 9:30 p.m. July 2 near Highway 59 and Saylesville Road. The deer ran off but caused damage to the caller's black Nissan minivan.

20 A caller in the 400 block of Dodie Drive reported that the caller's son traded his iPod for a skateboard and the "parents were not happy about the exchange. Officers mediated the problem and property was returned to (the) original owner."

21 An intoxicated woman in the 200 block of Park Avenue was reportedly "yelling and pounding on (the) walls" around midnight July 2. It was the fourth complaint in two weeks and the woman was issued a citation by mail.

22 A caller reported around 2 a.m. July 3 seeing "three people with something covering their faces" trying to break in the front door of his home in the 800 block of Beechwood Avenue. The caller thought he saw something in "the people's hand (that) looked like a crowbar."

23 Four rolls of copper tubing were reportedly stolen from a construction site near South Grand and West College avenues between 7:30 p.m. June 28 and 10 a.m. July 2. It was reported around 2:45 p.m. July 3.

24 A black, two-door Cadillac Deville reportedly swerved "as a bulldozer was backing up," causing a bicyclist to "hit the brakes … and he then slid on the gravel … sustaining a small gash to his chin, and chipped his left front tooth" around 3:40 p.m. July 3 near College and Grand avenues. The bicyclist was taken to the hospital, where he received stitches for the gash.

25 An unlocked vehicle in the 2700 block of Oakcrest Drive was reportedly broken into and a wallet stolen some time between 10:45 p.m. July 2 and 6:15 a.m. July 3 and reported around 4 p.m. July 3.

26 Someone reportedly "stole three solar figurines from (the caller's) lawn" in the 1900 block of Sunnyside Drive around 6:45 p.m. July 3.

27 A woman in the 300 block of West Newhall Avenue was reportedly transported to the hospital after she cut her wrist during a verbal argument over a male's past relationships around 2 a.m. July 3.

28 A woman in the 1100 block of Guthrie Road reported around 2:30 a.m. July 4 that her 15-year-old daughter was hitting her in the face. The daughter was taken to the police station, "to be turned over to (her) grandmother."

29 A train reportedly hit a taxi that had stalled on the tracks around 5:40 a.m. July 4 near Progress and South West avenues. The taxi driver fled the vehicle before impact.

30 A caller reported a "male in his mid-20s was strangling and throwing his girlfriend around" about 4:30 p.m. July 4 in the 300 block of North Grand Avenue. "Caller believes female bit the male's finger to get away."

31 A man reported his wallet stolen, perhaps after he let three women drive him back to his hotel after he got drunk, around 7 p.m. July 4 at Country Springs Hotel, 2810 Golf Road. There were subjects in a room at the hotel "registered under his name and there were also charges made at Waukesha Target."

32 A small grass fire was reported after a fireworks complaint around 10:20 p.m. July 4 near Anoka and Harding avenues.

33 Another grass fire was reported around 10:30 p.m. July 4 after a fireworks complaint in the 1400 block of Big Bend Road.

34 A woman reportedly "peed her pants" after she was threatened by a man she knew, with a samurai sword, around 12:10 a.m. July 5 in the 300 block ofWisconsin Avenue. Police found the woman "very intoxicated ... (and) claims could not be substantiated."

35 A briefcase was reportedly taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 2100 block of Inverness Drive around 7 a.m. July 5.

36 A caller in the 900 block of Madison Street reported around 2:40 p.m. July 5 that neighbor children put a hose "into (the) heater exhaust pipe that flooded (the caller's) basement."

37 A caller reported around 9:30 p.m. July 5 a man "lying face down by the pond, unmoving since about 2 p.m.," in the 100 block of Cambridge Avenue. The man left the park after police spoke to him.

38 "Three males, approximately 18-21 years old (two without shirts on)," reportedly tried to break into a vehicle in the 900 block of Lincoln Avenue around 3:30 p.m. July 6.
