Police Report: Jan. 16

1 A man was arrested around 5 a.m. Jan. 7 after running through an apartment building at 2729 N. University Drive kicking doors and screaming. According to callers on the dispatch log, the man was screaming, "I have weapons, I have ammo." Another caller said the man was yelling his name and that he wants to save "everyone because of blizzard conditions." Police were able to find the man in the building and arrest him. The dispatch log noted damage to several of the doors in the apartment building.

2 A resident at 134 W. North St. #103 called police at 9:14 a.m. Jan. 6 to report burglary. They said $100 cash was taken from their wallet while they were sleeping.

3 A "driver" called police at 9:06 p.m. Jan. 7 to report he received a fake $50 bill from an address in the 200 block of Hinman Ave.

4 A woman called police at 11:15 a.m. Jan. 7 to report her car window had been smashed. She said she was at a stop sign at North Washington Avenue and Summit Avenue on Jan. 3 when a man approached her car and began beating on the window and yelling profanities at her. She said her window is shattered and her door is dented.

5 Police responded to the area of White Rock Avenue and Perkins Avenue at 12:39 a.m. Jan. 10 for a call of a woman asleep at the wheel. When police made contact with the woman she said she must have fallen asleep while waiting for a train to pass. She said she had not been drinking or using drugs.

6 A resident at 1929 Madera St. called police at 12:23 a.m. Jan. 10 after coming home and finding items missing. The resident said a Playstation 3, HDMI cable and games were missing, but there were no signs of forced entry. Police found footsteps outside the second floor patio door which is normally unlocked but had been locked.

7 A woman at 430 Kimberly Drive called police at 9:32 p.m. Jan. 9 to report harassment. She said a man in his mid-30s made vulgar comments about her attractiveness.

8 Police were called at 10:58 a.m. Jan. 9 about an intoxicated person in the 1000 block of Summit Avenue. According to the dispatch log, a man fell and has others helping him up. The man was not injured but it was reported as a "case of vodka and ice not mixing well."

9 A caller at 1008 Caroline St. called police at 10:11 a.m. Jan. 9 to report burglary. They said someone broke into their home overnight and took miscellaneous metal, a case of Mountain Dew and speakers.

10 Theft of rims and wheels was reported at 9:58 a.m. Jan. 9 at 2145 E. Moreland Blvd.

11 A caller at 1226 Wedgewood Drive called police at 5:07 p.m. Jan. 12 to report burglary. He said that someone broke into the back door and stole his wife's jewelry while they were at a movie.

12 A resident at 132 Cambridge Ave. called police at 2:43 p.m. Jan. 11 to report a phone scam.

The woman said she received a call from a man in Jamaica telling her that she won money and other items. The woman said she didn't give the man any personal information, but she wanted it documented.

13 A resident in the 1500 block of Tomahawk Lane called police at 11:44 p.m. Jan. 10 to report harassment. He said his ex threatened his 5-year-old daughter.

The man claimed his ex said they were "putting an Irish/Native American curse on his daughter."

14 A woman who lives in the 300 block of West Main Street called police at 4:57 p.m. Jan. 10 saying that she is "tired of being controlled by Tom Cruise and Will Smith."

The woman suffers from mental health issues, but police advised her to not call 911 for these reasons.

15 Theft of tires from vans at 1720 Paramount Drive was reported at 8:50 a.m. Jan. 13.
