Police Report: Oct. 17

1 Residents in the 1000 block of North Greenfield Avenue called police at 5:40 p.m. Oct. 8 after their son, 9, held a knife to his neck. The caller said the child didn't want to eat what his mother had prepared for dinner and held the knife up to his neck in protest. Police advised the child on his behavior and the parents on resources to help.

2 A caller at 1404 E. Sunset Drive called police at 3:50 p.m. Oct. 8 after seeing a man try to get in the back door of her car.

3 Police were dispatched to Rivers Crossing Drive and River Road at 3:13 p.m. Oct. 8 after a blue Corvette sped around the corner too fast and went into the ditch behind the high school.

4 Police were dispatched to 1910 Silvernail Road at 8:21 a.m. Oct. 8 on a report of a car flipped over in the lot. A female reportedly injured her elbow.

5 A woman at 1202 Birch Drive called police at 7:08 a.m. Oct. 8 to report property damage. She said she was out walking her dog and when she returned the back window of her car was smashed.

6 A couple parked in a car at 230 Madison St. at 2:34 a.m. Oct. 10 were advised on their behavior after police caught them having sex in the car.

7 Police were dispatched to 901 S. Grand Ave. at 10:18 p.m. Oct. 9 on a report of a possible burglary. The resident said she came home with her children to find the front door open and the lights on in the home. The house was clear and nothing was reported missing.

8 Police advised a group of teenagers at Madison Street and Moreland Boulevard who were pointing a laser light in the eyes of drivers around 8 p.m. Oct. 9.

9 A GPS was reported stolen from an unlocked car at 1920 DeWitt Court at 3:49 p.m. Oct. 9.

10 A rolled up jacket and T-shirt with a knife sticking out was found at 1508 Mohawk Lane on Oct. 9. Police said the items were likely related to an armed robbery from Speedway on Sept. 28.

11 Graffiti with anti-war and anti-violence messages was reported at 7:56 p.m. Oct. 10 on the old missile silos at 2119 Davidson Road.

12 A lawnmower was reported stolen from 1264 River Place Blvd. at 1:32 p.m. Oct. 10. The owner said he was cutting grass, stopped to talk to someone and when he returned the mower was missing. A postal worker said they saw two men put the lawn mower in a maroon van.

13 A caller at 1915 Kensington Drive #16 called police at 11:40 a.m. Oct. 10 to report theft of blueprints and architecture paperwork taken from his residence. He said paperwork type items have gone missing over the last couple of weeks and he has a suspect.

14 A duty bag, badge, jail-issued radio, jail swipe card and wallet were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle at 860 Harding Ave. on Oct. 13.

15 Tools were taken from an unlocked vehicle at 934 Genesee St. The owner called police at 10:42 a.m. Oct. 13 to report a bucket of random tools were taken from his vehicle sometime overnight.

16 A GPS and radar detector were reported taken from an unlocked vehicle at 870 Perkins Ave. at 10:31 a.m. Oct. 13.

17 Golf clubs were reported stolen Oct. 13 from a vehicle at 849 Genesee St.

18 A door was forced open and items were reported stolen at 9:49 a.m. Oct. 13 at 438 Maple Ave.

19 The lock to a storage locker at 1643 Arcadian Ave. was reported cut off at 3:31 p.m. Oct. 12 and all items taken from the locker.

20 A woman walking home from the Salty Toad at 2:50 a.m. Oct. 12 called police to report she was jumped by a man on South Prairie Avenue near Progress Avenue. The woman said the man asked her if she had any money and when she said she did not, he threw her to the ground.

21 A group of teens was advised after they pelted a passing car with eggs in the 2000 block of Springbrook North around 12:12 a.m. Oct. 12. The teens admitted to throwing the eggs saying it was part of "junior/senior wars" and accidentally hit the wrong car.

22 The sunroof of a car at 237 South St. was reported smashed in at 10:45 p.m. Oct. 11.

23 A caller at 2827 N. University Drive called police at 12:37 p.m. Oct. 11 to report someone had removed a lug nut from her car and loosened others. She said its happened two times since she parked her car at this location.

24 Someone broke the rear windshield of a car parked at 230 Madison St. It was reported at 12:20 p.m. Oct. 11.

25 A resident at 1002 E. Main St. called police at 5:52 p.m. Oct. 14 after they came home and found their door kicked in, their house ransacked and items missing.

26 A wood burning stove was reported stolen from the front yard at 1275 Sunset Drive at 4:42 p.m. Oct. 14. Neighbors reported seeing someone drag the stove down the sidewalk.

27 Police were dispatched to a theft in progress at 220 E. Sunset Drive at 1:44 p.m. Oct. 14. The caller said a man attempted to steal a woman's purse, but was detained by another man.

28 Theft of tires and rims over the weekend from a Cadillac dealership at 2145 E. Moreland Blvd. was reported at 7:50 a.m. Oct. 14.
