Police Report: Dec. 5

1 Three tires were reported slashed at 7:36 a.m. Nov. 23 on a vehicle at 1214 Swallow Road. The caller said it happened sometime overnight after 11 p.m.

2 Graffiti was reported at 550 Elizabeth St. at 7:22 p.m. Nov. 23. The caller said the graffiti occurred sometime after 10 p.m. the night before and "aint" was painted in green and black.

3 Burglary was reported at 1601 Swartz Drive at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 22. The caller said there are signs of forced entry, the house is "in shambles" with the front door left wide open. They said a safe was missing and other items were taken.

4 Approximately 20 smartphones were reported stolen from, Verizon, 1921 Silvernail Drive #102 at 9:47 a.m. Nov. 22. Police were called after employees came to discover windows to the business broken.

5 Two women called police from a store in the Meadowbrook Shopping Center, 701 Meadowbrook Road, at 10:13 p.m. Nov. 26 after they were locked in a store. The women said they were shopping when the lights turned off and when they returned to the store's entrance, all the employees were gone and the doors were locked. They said they could have unlocked the doors from the inside and left, but that they didn't want to leave the doors unlocked to the store.

6 A resident at an apartment at 720 Scott Ave. called police at 5:57 p.m. Nov. 26 saying that three men walked into her apartment and threatened her. She said she doesn't know who the men are, but they tried robbing her. The woman said they told her, "give me everything you got." They didn't display a weapon but threatened to hit her if she didn't comply. She told police the men got into a car and sped off.

7 A resident at 533 Brasted Place called police at 9:19 p.m. Nov. 28 saying that she believes her neighbor has been going into her vehicle and taking sodas and leaving lights on inside the vehicle. When a dispatcher advised her to lock her doors, she became belligerent and hung up according to the dispatch log.

8 An anonymous person called 911 at 2:08 a.m. Dec. 12 about a strong smell of marijuana in the hallway of an apartment building at 706 John St. When police arrived, they said there was no smell of marijuana but "only that of Christmas tide."

9 Police responded to a possible bomb threat at Wendy's in the Westbrook Shopping Center, 2112 E. Moreland Blvd., at 9:40 p.m. Dec. 1. A customer in the restaurant said a woman in the dining room was acting strange and told them that there is a bomb in the building and that everyone should get out. Police evacuated the building and blocked off the parking lot. They were unable to find the woman who was last seen walking west on Moreland, or a bomb and cleared the area around 10:30 p.m.

10 Police were called to Family Dollar, 139 E. Broadway, at 7:29 p.m. Dec. 1 about a customer that had been in the store for the last four hours staring at a blank computer screen. According to the dispatch log, the man also tried climbing up on one of the store's coolers and was acting very strange. The man said he was using the computer in an effort to apply for a job. He said he was in the store for so long because of "court and spiritual issues" he is dealing with. Police offered him alternate options that would allow him to use a computer.

11 A customer at Pick 'n Save, 1535 E. Moreland Blvd., left without paying for all his items after he became upset that his EBT card did not cover some of the items. Police were called at 5:38 p.m. Dec. 1 after the man left the store with the unpaid items.

12 Two bullet holes were shot through windows at 226 E. Park Ave. sometime between 5 p.m. Nov. 29 and 1 p.m. Dec. 1.

13 A car was broken into at 1400 Nike Drive at 1:48 p.m. Nov. 30 and its radio was taken. The owner of the car said they left it unlocked to go shopping at Goodwill.

14 A resident at 1616 Dixie Drive called police at 3:55 p.m. Nov. 29 to report burglary. The caller came home and noticed jewelry and money missing.

15 Police, including the bomb squad, were dispatched to the area of Fox River Parkway and Waterview Lane, at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 29 on a report of a hand grenade left in the area. Everyone in the area was evacuated. The bomb squad determined it was a fake grenade.

16 Rims from a vehicle on blocks at 1583 E. Moreland Blvd. were reported stolen at 8:59 a.m. Nov. 29.
