Police Report: May 9

1 A woman called police at 9:14 p.m. April 30 to report her son's female friend was enticed by a man in a blue car around 3 p.m. that day near St. Mary's School. Her son said his friend told him a blue Mustang rounded the block three times and yelled at the girl to get in the car and made sexual gestures.

2 A resident at 801 N. East Ave. called police at 12:28 a.m. May 2 requesting someone tell her neighbor to stop knocking on her door. She said her neighbor has been knocking all day. The man was reportedly intoxicated and told to stop knocking and that if he didn't he may be cited or arrested.

3 An employee at Walmart, 2000 S. West Ave. called police at 10:43 p.m. May 1 to report someone was trying to pay with a $50 bill that was possibly counterfeit.

4 A caller in the 300 block of Roberta Avenue called at 9:08 p.m. May 1 to report a group of teenagers pulling a wagon behind a car with a rope. They said a kid was riding in the wagon and they were going in and out of parking lots at South High School. The teenagers were advised to quit and that there would be no tolerance if they were caught again.

5 Police were requested to mediate the price quote from a locksmith at 8:13 p.m. May 1. A caller at 525 Country Crest Lane said the locksmith quoted one price over the phone and now is demanding double and they want an officer to help mediate the situation.

6 Police were called to a fight in front of a muffler shop at West Moreland Boulevard and North Street at 7:13 p.m. May 1. They reported a male beating up another male. Police were unable to locate the suspect who fled.

7 A caller at 2145 E. Moreland Blvd. called police at 6:24 p.m. May 1 to report their new car was broken into and car parts were taken.

8 A 22-foot flatbed trailer was reported stolen from 1515 Ellis St. at 2:29 p.m. May 1.

9 Copper wire from air conditioning unit above a building at 403 N. Grand Ave. was reported stolen at 2:15 p.m. May 1.

10 A caller at 1421 E. Moreland Blvd. called police at 2:09 p.m. May 1 to report spare tires were stolen from eight vans. They estimate loss at more than $10,000.

11 A caller at 2018 S. Grand Ave. called police at 12:24 p.m. May 1 to report their neighbor children were shooting off fireworks. The caller said the children were ages 2 to 6 years old.

12 Someone called police at 11:20 a.m. May 1 to report a theft in progress. They saw a male taking wire from a construction site at Grand and College Avenue and was getting on a bus at the transit center.

13 A caller at 1451 E. Moreland Blvd. called police at 11:15 a.m. May 1 to report radar detectors and cameras were taken from their vehicle and now they see the items listed on Craigslist.

14 A woman at 2410 Springdale Road called police at 9:35 a.m. May 1 to report she has been receiving harassing emails. She said the emails are from her ex friend and say, "Stop trashing me, or else." The caller wants the "or else" on the record.

15 A caller at 2105 Norton Ave. called police at 7:43 a.m. May 1 to report someone had driven by their property and threw a rock through the front window. They said it must have happened overnight and felt it might be related to a TV interview they gave about the recent triple homicide case involving Jaren Kuester.

16 Two people called police around 7 a.m. May 1 to report a man in a car wearing a black face mask in the area of Roberta and Tenny Avenue.

17 A man at 408 N. Hine Ave. reported at 11:23 p.m. May 2 his truck was egged. He said it is an ongoing problem with vehicles parked in front of his house.

18 A caller at 1211 Hickory Drive North called police at 9:51 p.m. May 2 to report $20-$25 worth of items including a kayak were taken from their front yard.

19 A woman at 320 E. Main St. called a dispatcher at 9:24 p.m. May 2 to ask why police were at her door before. She began shouting and using profanities at the dispatcher that she was sleeping. When the dispatcher told her calling 911 for a nonemergency was grounds for a citation she told the dispatcher to "Stick it up my a--!"

20 A woman at 2029 Madera St. called police at 7:46 p.m. May 2 to report a man in Florida was posting fake pages on Facebook, Black Planet and Craigslist with her photo and phone number on them and now she is receiving unwanted calls.

21 Concrete rabbits were reported stolen at 1:11 p.m. May 4 from 2837 Willard Lane.

22 Theft was reported at West Wabash Avenue and South Grand Avenue at 10:30 p.m. May 3. The caller said two men took pipes laying on the ground to be used for road construction and left in a black pickup truck. Police investigated and the pipes appeared to be garbage.

23 A ladder, raccoon trap and chair were reported stolen from a yard at 233 N. Charles St. at 1:59 p.m. May 3. The caller said the items were taken sometime in the last few weeks.

24 A caller at 1535 E. Moreland Blvd. called police at 12:14 p.m. May 3 and said they received a counterfeit $10 bill and have the subject on video.

25 A caller at 233 Hinman Ave. called police at 9:10 p.m. May 6 saying they heard a male and female screaming at each other. It turned out to be two people rapping and they were advised to keep it down.

26 A woman at 409 Sheffield Road called police at 5:44 p.m. to report her tire was slashed and she suspects her ex is responsible.

27 Someone called police with concerns about a young man shooting a bow and arrow near a retention pond at Fox River Parkway and Highway 59 at 3:52 p.m. May 6. The man was shooting carp and advised.

28 A resident at 918 E. Moreland Blvd. called police at 3:25 p.m. May 6 to report their basement was burglarized and apartment completely ransacked. Access may have been through an open window. They reported checks, money and credit cards missing.
