Waukesha County Fair serves up daily family fun

Family fun and entertainment on a budget are always the main attractions at theWaukesha County Fair. The fair runs Wednesday through Sunday, July 16-20, on the Waukesha Expo Grounds.

Children's Tent

The Children's Stage has expanded to a tent to make space for even more fun. It is kitty-corner from the Coors Light Stage on the main walkway. The Children's Tent will provide free interactive activities, music, food contests, demonstrations and entertainment. Open daily. Visit www.WaukeshaCountyFair .com for complete schedule.

Family Fun Stage

The Family Fun Stage is inside the air-conditioned Arena Exhibit Hall, which also features competitive exhibits. The stage will showcase musical performances, demonstrations and entertainment for the whole family. Open daily. See website for complete schedule.

Sprecher Tent

Meet the new coach and players of the Milwaukee Wave in the Sprecher Tent, across from the Children's Tent. Open noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Fair Fun Run/Walk

Bring the whole family along for a just-for-fun Fair Fun Run/Walk around the fairgrounds at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 19. Prizes will be awarded for best team, family and individual costume. See the website for registration details.

Ag Adventure Play Land

The Play Land is north of the Forum Marketplace and Shops. The area features free agricultural themed activities, including a farm animal tent. Open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Pony Rides & Monkeys

Fairgoers can find pony rides and monkeys on the north end of the fairgrounds. Hours are 3 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, noon to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Antique Tractor Display

Area farmers and antique enthusiasts loan their equipment for this annual display. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Livestock Barns & Tents

See the 4-H, FFA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and open-class projects that local children worked on all year. Open daily.

Arena Exhibit Hall

From photography and baking to natural science and robotics, see the 4-H, FFA, Boy and Girl Scouts and open class projects that have been in the works for an entire year. Open daily.

Youth exhibits

The air-conditioned Youth in Action (Forum) and the Youth Activity Center (Arena) showcase the talents of 4-H members, FFA, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Participate in free daily themed activities and crafts, watch demonstrations and performances. Open daily.

Iron Beaver Railroad

See trains navigate a railway system constructed and designed by the 4-H model builders in the Arena Exhibit Hall. Open daily 10 a.m. to close.

Alligator Show

An educational and entertaining show, see alligators demonstrate natural and aggressive behaviors that most humans have never seen before. Watch as The Swampmaster catches an 8-foot, 200-pound alligator with his bare hands.

The show is on the south end of the fairgrounds. Shows are at 5 and 7 p.m. Wednesday; 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 2:30, 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday; and 1, 3 and 5 p.m. Sunday.

Midway entertainment

Spin, slide and strategize until your heart's content on the midway's rides and games.

Daily ride specials provide additional savings.

See the website for a listing of discounts. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, 1 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Admission specials and discounts are available for the fair. Cash only accepted at the entrance gates.

Through July 15 adult admission tickets are $7 (save $2).

Unlimited daily ride wristbands are $18 for Thursday though Sunday (save $5)

Daily specials: Wednesday, July 16 — Dollar Day, $1 admission, $1 parking; Thursday, July 17 — Carload and Senior Day. $10 per car before 4 p.m., $3 senior admission (age 62+); Friday, July 18 — St. Vincent de Paul Day, make a donation to St. Vincent de Paul in Waukesha between July 7 and 15 and receive $5 off an adult admission coupon good until 5 p.m.; Saturday, July 19 — Fair Fun Run/walk, receive free admission to the fair when you sign up for the fourth annual Fair Fun Run/Walk; Sunday, July 20 — $4 off before 4 p.m., print voucher on WeatherTightCorp.com and receive $4 off an adult admission before 4 p.m.

Admission at the gate is $10 adults, $5 children 6 to 12, and free for children 5 and younger. Parking is $5.

Motorcycle parking is free.
