Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County, a nonprofit celebrating its 25-year anniversary in 2014, is opening a ReStore in Waukesha.
A soft opening will take place at the ReStore, located at 2120 E. Moreland Blvd. in the Westbrook Shopping Center, from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28.
The event will feature food, drinks, a raffle, silent auction as well as a first look at the new store, which will feature appliances, furniture, kitchen cabinets, building materials, hardware, tools and other donated items.
For tickets to the event, Habitat for Humanity is suggesting a $20 donation, which can be made on Habitat's website.
Tickets can also be requested by emailing Andrew Garrison, who works in Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County's Marketing and Resource Development Department, at andrew@hfhwaukesha.org.
A grand opening on Wednesday, Sept. 3, is also scheduled at the store.
The grand opening will feature a ribbon cutting by the Waukesha County Business Alliance at 10 a.m. with Habitat for Humanity staff and other local civic leaders present.
The grand opening is open to the public.
The ReStore will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County has been collecting donations since the spring to have the store stocked.
Proceeds from the store will go to Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County to build more homes.
“The concept of a ReStore really happened organically,” said Diane McGeen, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Waukesha County. “People see all of the work that we are doing in the community and want to give to our home builds.
"Often times, the items that they wish to donate cannot be used in our homes, so that is where the ReStore comes in.
"By being able to sell the donated items, it can help us build more houses. This ReStore is projected to fund three to five houses here in Waukesha County annually.”
