Three days after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of a Waukesha roller rink, a 34-year-old woman remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit.

Capt. Ron Oremus also provided more details Wednesday into the incident from Sunday, Aug. 31, at Skateland, 1931 E. Main St. He added that all parties involved in the incident have been identified.

Oremus said the incident started after multiple people were denied access into the roller rink due to capacity issues. An all-night skate event was being held at Skateland that night.

One small group of individuals who had been denied entrance returned to a vehicle and allegedly began driving recklessly through the parking lot shortly after 11 p.m.

Oremus said an argument ensued between two groups in the parking lot, with the first group consisting of two males (18 and 17 years old) who were with three females (17 to 20 years old).

The second group consisted of two adult women (34 and 32 years old) with two younger children (7 and 5 years old) as well as two teenage boys (16 and 14 years old).

Oremus said an altercation ensued between some of the individuals in these groups, reportedly because of the driving behavior.

The altercation resulted in numerous injuries, mostly abrasions, Oremus said. He added the vehicles involved also sustained damage, including broken windows.

As the situation escalated, the 34-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle and according to the police blotter was bleeding "profusely" and had a "severe head injury."

Waukesha police have indicated the woman has life-threatening injuries and was unconscious, as of Tuesday morning.

Police are not releasing the victim's identity.

The striking vehicle, however, fled the scene before police arrived. Lt. Chad Pergande said the vehicle has been located.

Oremus said Tuesday that while police have a potential suspect, "we will not be releasing the identity as we have not confirmed this individual's participation in the incident."

But he added Wednesday that police now have identified all parties involved in the incident.

Oremus, however, said there are multiple accounts with varying perspectives about what happened.

"This incident was very chaotic and involved numerous people," Oremus said. "We are cautious in releasing only accurate information as this investigation is still ongoing."

If anyone has more information or personal video from the incident, they are urged to contact Detective Paul Paikowski at (262) 524-3786.
