Dad admits to shooting up heroin with child in car
A 31-year-old Milwaukee man was charged June 18 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with child neglect and intoxicated driving (second offense), found by police "comatose" in his truck after injecting heroin. His 5-year-old son was also in the vehicle.
According to the criminal complaint, A witness called Waukesha City Police on June 16 after seeing a parked car idling outside a condominium complex at 1520 Big Bend Road.
Inside was a small child wearing only a diaper and a man, later identified as Steven M. Kraft, passed out behind the wheel, according to the complaint.
The officer had to shake the man to awaken him. When he awoke, the officer asked him if he was on anything and he admitted to injecting heroin, according to the complaint.
When the officer asked the man how many fingers he was holding up, Kraft incorrectly answered two instead of four.
He faces two years in prison, $12,200 in fines, or both, if convicted.
Man arrested after stabbing uncle
An 18-year-old autistic man was arrested Monday after stabbing his uncle above the knee with a kitchen knife inside a home at 330 Jasper Lane Monday morning.
The uncle was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, Capt. Ron Oremus of the Waukesha Police Department said Tuesday morning. The suspect was also taken to the hospital with a back injury (not related to the stabbing), Oremus said.
Oremus said the stabbing occurred after the uncle told the nephew what room he could watch TV in.
Despite being autistic, Oremus said "He knew right from wrong so he was arrested and was locked up."
Oremus said the 18-year-old's mother was also arrested and later released for obstructing the investigation.
