Police Report: April 25

1A woman at 1514 Big Bend Road called police at 9 p.m. April 16 because her home was burglarized. She said she returned home to find her front door and window open. Her TV was sitting in front of the door, and electronics and other items were taken.

2A caller at 800 Clinton St. called police at 4:32 p.m. April 16 to report someone threw "spit wads" at their window. Said it's a continuous problem.

3Police were dispatched on a call of a suspicious person at 2:46 p.m. April 16. A caller said two people were panhandling between Arby's and US Bank on Silvernail Road and had a sign that read "Hungry, Hungry, Hippies."

4A caller at 125 Harrison Ave. called police at 9:56 a.m. April 16 to report their unlocked vehicle was gone through and items were taken. They said this has occurred two days in a row.

5 Police were dispatched to an accident with injuries at West St. Paul Avenue and West Sunset Drive at 9:21 p.m. April 17. On car was reported in the ditch.

6A resident 1905 Avalon Drive called police at 7 p.m. April 17 to report suspicious person who was looking through their window. It turned out to be a solicitor without the proper permit.

7A resident at 421 Madison St. called police at 2:41 p.m. April 17 to report their neighbor began running an extension cord to their apartment through the window after their electricity was shut off. The caller is worried about it being a hazard in the wet weather.

8A resident at 2005 Madera St. reported burglary at 2:33 p.m. April 17. They said they are unsure when their home was burglarized, but estimate $10,000 worth of jewelry is missing. No sign of forced entry.

9The owner of a business at 444 W. Sunset Drive called police at 3:33 p.m. April 17 stating their IT employee sabotaged their computer system and attempted to delete all of the company's files. They said it also appears they may have copied files with sensitive material. The caller said they suspect the employee did this in an attempt to start their own practice with another agency.

10A caller at 2811 Mohican Circle reported theft of diamond necklaces at 3:26 p.m. April 17. They think it was their cousin's boyfriend because he is a drug addict and has been stealing from other family members.

11A caller at 233 N. James St. called at 12:59 p.m. April 17 to report their vehicle was rummaged through the night before. Nothing was taken, but wanted police to be aware.

12Theft of metal from outside a building at 831 Progress Ave. was reported at 10:47 a.m. April 17.

13 Police responded to a rollover accident at 9:57 p.m. April 22 at Northview Road and University Drive. The driver of the grey pickup found on its side said he was not injured in the accident.

14 A caller tipped police off to a burglary in process at 423 Windsor Drive at 4:30 p.m. April 21. The caller said a group of teens were breaking into the house while the owners were out of town. Police responded and a chase ensued, no further details were currently available.

15 The bar manager at 1180 W. Sunset Drive #106 called police at 3:50 p.m. April 21 to report a group of teens ran out on their check. Police were attempting to locate teens through license plate of car they left in.

16 A 90-year-old female at 1129 Margaret St. has received several phone calls from a male asking for $500. She withdrew the money and tried to send it; caller also asked about meeting at Walgreens to get the money. Family reported the problem to police concerned about a scam and police advised to not send money or meet the caller to deliver the money.

17 Police were called at 2:36 a.m. April 21 on a report of teens placing debris on train tracks at North Grand Avenue and Williams Street. They said two trains went through the debris and it may have damaged the trains.

18 Police were dispatched to a fight involving 20-30 people at 332 Williams St. at 12:47 a.m. April 21.

19 Around the same time as the previous call, a gang fight was reported outside The Strand Tap at Strand and Perkins Avenue.

20A caller reported seeing two males jump out of a car in the 200 block of Prairie Avenue with a shovel at 8:28 p.m. April 20. They caller said they ran down the railroad tracks and returned putting something in the trunk.

21 Police were dispatched to 325 N. Grand Ave. at 6:43 p.m. April 20 on a report of six people Dumpster diving and looking into car windows and trying nearby business doors.

22 Caller reported what they thought was a shotgun fired at 1815 Kensington Drive at 11:12 p.m. April 19. When questioned by police the resident said they just moved into the apartment and found a bottle rocket and set it off.

23 Two vehicles were involved in an accident with injury at Highway 59 and West Avenue at 10:39 p.m. April 19.
