Power outage affects Brookfield, Waukesha, New Berlin customers

Jan. 04, 2013 1:00 p.m. | We Energies says an estimated 7,100 customers are without power this afternoon in the Brookfield, New Berlin and Waukesha area.

Brian Manthey, media spokesman for the company, said the outage started at 11:15 a.m. Friday morning and crews have already restored power to some of the affected customers.

"We are looking into the cause of the outage, but it may have been caused by equipment failure at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Calhoun Road where the outage started," Manthey said.

We Energies expects to have all affected customers restored by 1 p.m.

Power restored for 8,400 customers along Brookfield, New Berlin border

Jan. 04, 2013 12:44 p.m. | Power has been restored to about 8,400 We Energies customers in Brookfield along the border with New Berlin, We Energy spokesman Brian Manthey said Friday.

The power failure occurred about 11:15 a.m. and was restored at 12:40 p.m.

Manthey said the problem was a fault in a piece of equipment on a pole that then sent a signal down the line to the substation, which knocked out power along the line. The pole was located in the Calhoun Road/Lincoln Ave. area, he said.

Customers affected live largely along the border between Brookfield and New Berlin, along the areas of Lincoln and Greenfield avenues and Calhoun Road, he said.
