Waukesha mayoral totals revised because of missed votes

Waukesha - City Clerk Tom Neill has released revised vote totals for the Waukesha mayor's primary election Tuesday after discovering that results from two voting machines were not counted.

The results of the election were unchanged, although the gap between first place finisher Jeff Scrima and Mayor Larry Nelson, who finished second, widened slightly.

The two will square off April 6.

The final, official results:

Scrima, 1,830 (35%); Nelson, 1,271 (24%); Darryl Enriquez, 1,039 (20%); Bill Beglinger, 633 (12%); Randy Radish, 427 (8%).

Neill said Tuesday night's unofficial total results failed to include votes cast on two machines and apologized in an e-mail. In one case, the tape of vote counts was delivered to City Hall but not added into the totals. In the other, Neill explained in an interview, staffers who collected the tapes at polling places were unaware that a machine designed for people with disabilities had some votes on it and that tape was not collected.

'I assure you that this has been rectified for the April election results!' he wrote in the e-mail.

Turnout in the city for Tuesday's election, in which the mayor's primary was the only race on the ballot, was 13.2% In all, 5,212 people of the 39,488 registered voters showed up at the polls.
