Waukesha - Nine remaining candidates, including three current captains in the Waukesha Police Department, will be interviewed over the next three days as the city's Police and Fire Commission searches for the next Waukesha police chief.

A list of more than 50 applicants has been whittled down to the three internal candidates and six from outside the department. The three current Waukesha police captains who are seeking the chief's job are Chris Connolly, who's in charge of the administrative division; Russell Jack, who heads the patrol division; and Mark Stigler, who oversees the criminal division.

Chief Lester Sharrock retired in August after 12 years on the job. Wayne Dussault, the former deputy chief who is serving as interim chief, is not seeking the position.
