Waukesha couple killed in crash

Two people were killed in a crash Sunday afternoon at Highways I and 83, Town of Mukwonago Police Chief Grant Turner said.

Mary Zivney, 87, and Kenneth Zivney, 88, her husband, of Waukesha, were killed in the crash about 12:44 p.m. Sunday, Turner said.

Mary Zivney was driving a Pontiac Bonneville on Highway I and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 83. She pulled out into the path of a Lincoln Navigator traveling on Highway 83, and the vehicles collided, Turner said.

Kenneth Zivney was pronounced dead at the scene. Mary Zivney died later at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, Turner said.

The driver of the Navigator, Lawrence Laporte of Mukwonago, was treated at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

Laporte's Navigator struck a pickup truck on Highway I after colliding with the Zivney car.

The pickup driver, Ricky Hagenau of Dousman, also was treated at Waukesha Memorial for minor injuries, Turner said.
