Waukesha police report: May 26, 2016 issue

1Police had to remove an intoxicated 53-year-old man from an apartment complex in the 700 block of Summit Avenue around 8:03 a.m. May 13 at the request of a tenant, who said the man refused to leave. A police report said the man had somehow injured his foot and was 'disagreeable with authority,' but eventually left the apartment and was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

2A 14-year-old boy was drunk and reclining on the grass outside the Raymond P. Lauer Youth and Family center, 1515 Paramount Drive, around 12:28 p.m. May 13. The teenager, who according to a police report did not think he was intoxicated, refused to come back into the building. The situation was mitigated without police assistance.

3Two males were seen trying to break into a car around 12:39 p.m. May 13 behind St. Joseph's Catholic School, 818 N. East Ave. Both suspects drove away before police arrived but left a screwdriver in the door frame of a van, an incident report said. Police were unable to locate the suspects.

4A three-car accident around 2:29 p.m. May 13 at Brook and East North streets left at least one person injured. A woman cut her chin in the accident, and officers thought a male passenger in one of the other vehicles might have been hurt as well but could not confirm it.

5A resident in the 1000 block of Buena Vista Avenue reported the possible theft of a two-carat diamond ring — valued at $2,500 — from her home around 6:12 p.m. May 13. The resident claimed an in-home caretaker might be responsible for the theft. According to a police report, no other valuables were missing from the home.

6An anonymous caller reported seeing a man with a blanket sleeping in a doorway in the 200 block of West Main Street around 7:47 p.m. May 14. A police report did not indicate whether officers found the man or determined what he was doing.

7A student at New Tribes Bible Institute, 915 N. Hartwell Ave., reported seeing two men trying to break into cars in the school's parking lot around 10:43 p.m. May 14. Both men were wearing black hooded sweatshirts and left the school on bikes before police arrived. According to a police report, the men broke into at least one car.

8A resident in the 800 block of Sweetbriar Lane reportedly threatened to harm and possibly shoot some teenagers who had been bothering him when he called police to report an incident around 11:46 p.m. May 14. A police report said the man made a comment about shooting the teenagers then was reminded he was on a recorded phone line and advised not to make threats.

9An unidentified woman smashed the windows of a car in the 1300 block of Camden Way around 2:30 a.m. May 15. The caller who reported the incident also said the woman stole a basket out of the car after breaking the windows then walked away. Officers did not immediately locate the suspect.

10A caller reported a man had passed out with a beer in hand around 5:49 p.m. May 15 under a pavilion at Horeb Spring Park, 400 Spring St. According to an incident report, the pavilion was near an area where children were playing.

11Police spoke to a number of youths who pedaled into the roadway in a hurry in front of an officer's squad car around 7 p.m. May 15 near Sentinel Drive and South Grand Avenue. They were apologetic, and were advised of better options for crossing the street.

12A J & L Fiber Services employee was flown to the hospital by Flight for Life around 1:41 a.m. May 16 after he was pulled out of a loader machine at the business, 831 Progress Ave. According to a police report, the man's entire body was stuck in the machine and he suffered injuries to his back. The report did not indicate how the man got stuck in the machine.

13Police responded to Les Paul Middle School - Central Campus, 325 Carroll St., following a fight in the school's lunch room around 11:39 a.m. May 16. An incident report said citations would be issued to the students involved.

14The playground at Hillcrest Elementary School, 2200 Davidson Road, was damaged around 12:25 p.m. May 16. Three rubber mats at the end of the slides were cut with a bladed object.

15An anonymous caller reported several homeless men were drinking in the trees around 1:52 p.m. May 16 in the 200 block of Bank Street north of the Fox River. No additional information was available.

16A man was standing motionless in the crosswalk at White Rock Avenue and East Main Street around 6:50 p.m. May 16 and forcing cars that were turning there to drive around him. Police arrived and told the man he had to move.

17An intoxicated woman fell twice in Pick 'n Save, 1220 W. Sunset Drive, around 7:20 p.m. May 16 while trying to buy more alcohol. According to a police report, the woman injured herself in the second fall, but refused medical treatment and took a taxi home.

18An 18- or 19-year-old man was fighting with staff at Waukesha North High School, 2222 Michigan Ave., in the school's lobby around 8:36 p.m. May 16.

19Construction crews reported around 8:53 a.m. May 17 that multiple cars were ignoring road closure signs at White Rock Avenue and East Moreland Boulevard and driving through the construction zone there. Motorists have been consistenly ignoring those signs since they went up earlier this month, according to the city.

20A fire extinguisher was sprayed in a hallway, laundry room and stairwell of a downtown apartment complex in the 100 block of Corina Boulevard prior to 9:19 a.m. May 17. According to a police report, the complex's maintenance crew was reviewing surveillance video to try to identify those involved.

21The manager of a local Valvoline Instant Oil Change, 2721 N. University Drive, told police around 9:36 a.m. May 17 that he was receiving threatening messages from an unknown phone number after he fired several employees due to failed drug tests. The manager believed the firings and the messages were linked, a police report said.

22A private investigator hired by Firestone caught a man stealing tires from the business around 4:21 a.m. May 19. According to an incident report, the investigator had been hired in response to ongoing thefts from the business at 2000 E. Moreland Blvd. The thief reportedly jumped a fence at Firestone and carried the tires over the fence and back to his van. The report said police caught the man, but did not indicate whether he had been criminally charged.
