La Casa de Esperanza Inc., a community-based organization, will commemorate 50 years of service in the Waukesha area at its annual dinner celebration on Friday, Feb. 26.

The theme for the evening is "Dreamcatchers" and is dedicated to supporting the dreams of the children La Casa de Esperanza serves.

The event will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at La Casa de Esperanza, 410 Arcadian Ave., Waukesha.

The program will feature remarks from U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel, Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow and Waukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly.

Television personality and La Casa Children's Education Program graduate Carmen de La Paz will speak on how La Casa played a role in her life.

The Waukesha County Technical College's culinary arts program will cater the event. Proceeds from a wine pull and live auction will benefit the La Casa de Esperanza Charter School.

La Casa de Esperanza serves more than 20,000 residents in Waukesha, Milwaukee, and Jefferson Counties annually through educational, workforce development, nutrition, weatherization and housing services.

"This is a historic moment in La Casa's history, capping off 50 years of supporting children's education and providing critical services to our community," said Anselmo Villarreal, La Casa president and chief executive officer. "We are just getting started. With the help of our supporters, staff, and committed board members and donors, we will continue on our journey to helping others achieve their dreams."

A planned expansion of the La Casa de Esperanza Charter School, which opened this past fall, will result in eventually serving more than 500 children and families in K4 through eighth grade. The organization has begun a three-phase $8 million capital campaign for its expansion.
