Waukesha police said Wednesday that a student at Heyer Elementary School reported that she was approached by a man who possibly attempted to lure her into his vehicle during the afternoon pickup time.

The male was described as an African-American who was taller, had gray hair, and wore a red puffy jacket and light colored jeans. The man reportedly was driving an older model white 4-door sedan with rust on the rear wheel well.

"We are working with the Waukesha School District, making the students safety a top priority. As a result of this incident, all police department staff, school district staff and administration have been alerted and are increasing their presence during the drop-off, pick-up and recess time," Capt. Dan Baumann said in a statement.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Waukesha Police Detective Ken Stucker at (262) 524-3927.
