Lawns might not be filled with leaves just yet. But that will soon change.

With it, the city's fall leaf pickup is about to begin.

The city of Waukesha Department of Public Works will hold three scheduled pickups in each aldermanic district through the beginning of December.

The first pickup dates begin next week with Districts 1 and 3 on Oct. 19, Districts 7, 12 and 14 on Oct. 20, Districts 5 and 15 on Oct. 21 and District 8 on Oct. 22.

Residents can see what district they live in by going to bit.ly/Districtmap.

People should rake the leaves to the terrace area (the area between the sidewalk and the street) in front of their homes by 7 a.m. on the day of the pickup.

The Recycle Center, 750 Sentry Drive, will also accept leaves at no charge to city residents from Oct. 19 through Dec. 12.

The hours for the Recycle Center include 1 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Nov. 23 (only leaves will be accepted on Mondays); 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Nov. 25 (leaves and other items are accepted on this day); 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays (leaves and other items are accepted on Saturdays).

According to city ordinance, raking leaves into the gutter and burning leaves and other materials are prohibited.
