Waukesha's Night Out is Wednesday, Aug. 13

Waukesha's annual Night Out returns next week to Frame Park.

The event is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the Frame Park Rotary Building grounds, 1150 Baxter St.

This event is free to the community and is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, promote safety knowledge, generate support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, while sending a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime.

Flight for Life will stop by from 5 to 6 p.m., weather and no emergencies permitting.

Waukesha police will display a squad car, armored car and command post. Also, child identification kits will be available, with a Waukesha police officer present to finger-print children.

The Fire Safety House, an ambulance and a fire truck will be on hand.

The Waukesha Sheriff's Department will bring a K-9 and deputy team, a motorcycle deputy, a dive person and the armored Bearcat.

Other displays and groups at Night Out include the Humane Animal Welfare Society, Waukesha Metro Transit, Waukesha Recycling, Waukesha Citizens Police Academy alumni, G.E. volunteers, McGruff the Crime Dog and Sparky the Fire Dog, Roscoe the Milwaukee Admiral's mascot, American Dojo Martial Arts, J.K. Lee Blackbelt Academy, Graffiti Effacers, Alzheimer's Association, Abra Auto Body (with an airbag deployment demonstration, teen driving information and child safety seat information), Kinder Care Learning Center, Safe Kids of Wisconsin, Elks Lodge 400 (drug information), ProHealth Care (with bicycle helmet fitting and $10 helmets for sale), Wisconsin Firearms Training LLC(concealed carry information), WI Crime Alert Network, Crime Stoppers of Waukesha County, Civil Air Patrol Waukesha Composite Squadrine, Day Spring Baptist Church (addiction program information), Interfaith Senior Programs, Dunbar Oaks Neighborhood Watch, Children's Community Health Plan (helmet information), and The Women's Center Waukesha.

There will also be free food, an inflatable jump house and slide, child carnival games, activities and prizes for children, safety/drug information and demonstrations for people of all ages.
