The family of a 12-year-old girl stabbed 19 times in Waukesha, allegedly by two other 12-year-old girls, is asking people to wear purple — their daughter's favorite color — Tuesday in a show of support for the girl, according to a spokeswoman.

The girl, whose identity has not been made public, was attacked May 31 by two classmates who wanted to please a fictional horror character by killing her.

People are encouraged tell their friends and family why they chose to wear purple Tuesday and to share photos of themselves wearing purple or making purple hearts on Facebook at www.facebook.com/HeartsForHealingWI or by following the #heartsforhealing campaign on Twitter.
