Ohio mom says daughter referenced Slender Man in knife attack
After hearing about two 12-year-old Wisconsin girls accused of stabbing another girl to please a fictional horror character called Slender Man, an Ohio mother believes her daughter could have been influenced by the same story.
The mother, whose name was not released, told WLWT-TV in Cincinnati that her daughter wore a white mask and attacked her with a knife in the kitchen.
"We found things that she had written and she made reference to Slender Man. She also made references to killing," the mother told the TV station. Her daughter is facing charges in juvenile court.
In Waukesha County, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, both 12, have been charged with first-degree attempted homicide after police say they stabbed another girl 19 times and left her in the woods. The girls are being held on $500,000 bail in a secure detention facility in West Bend.
According to court records, Weier said Geyser told her they should become "proxies" of Slender Man — a horror character they thought was real after discovering him on the Internet — and kill their classmate to prove themselves worthy of him.
The victim was released from the hospital on Friday.
