2 held as police investigate stabbing of girl, 12, in Waukesha
Waukesha police were questioning two people after the stabbing of a 12-year-old girl Saturday morning in an incident that occurred around Big Bend Road on the city's south side.
The girl was treated for unspecified injuries at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, and police said she was in stable condition.
Police said they were notified about 9:50 a.m. Saturday by a concerned passerby about the stabbing.
The Waukesha Police and Fire Department responded and found the victim, according to a statement from the criminal investigation division of the police department.
The Waukesha Police Department, Waukesha County Sheriff's Department, New Berlin Police Department, Town of Brookfield Police Department and Flight for Life searched the woods to the south and east of Big Bend road for evidence and suspects.
With the help of the Sheriff's Department, Waukesha police arrested two people of interest who are known to the victim, said the statement from Police Sergeant Gerald F. Habanek.
Habanek said he could not disclose whether a weapon had been found.
