The 75-year-old man killed in a one-car crash in Waukesha on Thursday night was still in his seatbelt as he was dragged under his car, according to Waukesha police.

The man, identified Friday as Kirk Bechtel, was dragged about 240 feet before his car came to rest, an accident reconstruction specialist determined.

Police discovered Bechtel trapped underneath his car at the bottom of a hill near Comanche Lane and Madison St. about 7:45 p.m. Life saving efforts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fatal crash is still under investigation.
