The Town of Waukesha replaced one of its previously vacated positions when it named Baker Tilly as its new auditor at last night’s Town Board meeting.
But on Friday the Town Board got news that another position at the town will soon be vacant.
Molly Roamer, deputy clerk-treasurer with the town for the last two and a half years, is resigning at the end of the month.
In an email to the Town Board, Roamer said she is stepping down from her position effective Feb. 27.
Her announcement comes just four days after Jeanne O’Brien started as the new clerk-treasurer.
Former clerk-treasurer Jamie Salentine resigned at the end of 2013.
In regard to its new auditor, Baker Tilly will conduct the town’s 2013 audit for a price tag of $15,000.
If Baker Tilly needs more time to do the audit, it would have to come back before the board to get approval.
John Knepel, a partner with the Milwaukee-based Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, was interviewed by the Town Board during last night’s meeting.
The other firm the town considered was Johnson Block and Company, Inc. certified public accountants, from Mineral Point.
Representatives from that firm weren’t at the Town Board meeting, but the board felt comfortable with the services it would receive from Baker Tilly.
Johnson Block and Company would have charged $13,500 but it could have included additional charges due to travel.
The Town of Waukesha previously used CliftonLarsonAllen LLP as its auditor before that firm resigned in late 2013.
The town also recently hired longtime local attorney John Macy, the Waukesha County Republican Party chairman, as its new attorney. The town's former attorney, Hector de la Mora, resigned at the end of 2013.
