Waukesha City Police arrested one of two men being sought on warrants in a shooting that occurred near Woodman's Food Market on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Police Capt. Ron Oremus said that Vasilio Aguilera, 25 of Waukesha, was arrested on Monday evening outside Casa Del Rio restaurant. A detective stopped a vehicle occupied by Aguilera after recognizing the driver as a friend of the defendant, the captain said.

"It was pretty good police work," Oremus said.

Aguilera is currently being held in Waukesha County Jail, he said.

Oremus said that another suspected shooter, Antonio Martinez, 22 of Waukesha, is expected to surrender himself to police on Wednesday, Nov. 27, after this paper's publication date.

"(Martinez's attorney) has had contact with our agency and is trying to arrange to bring him in for it," Oremus said. "It really depends on whether the guy wants to come in, but we are hoping that he does."

A third man charged in the shooting made an initial appearance in court on Thursday, Nov. 21. Daniel Mindeola, 17 of Waukesha, was released on a $25,000 surety bond signed by his parents, according to court records. He will be under court supervision during the pretrial process, the records state.

All three men were charged on Friday, Nov. 15 with discharging a firearm at a vehicle and three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment. Martinez and Mindeola were also charged with marijuana distribution.

According to the criminal complaint, Waukesha City Police were dispatched on Nov. 13 to Woodman's Food Market, 1600 E. Main St., after receiving reports of the shooting.

A woman told police in the complaint that she had set up a phony drug deal at the market with the intention of robbing Mindeola. Two of her friends had made off with about an ounce of marijuana and Mindeola and Martinez tried chasing after them in their car, according to the complaint. She alleges in the complaint the two men picked up Aguilera and someone shot at her twice in the area of Manhattan Drive and East Moreland Boulevard.

No one was injured, but police recovered two rifle shell casings at the scene.

A $15,000 cash bail has been set for both Aguilera and Martinez, according to court records.
