Olympic gymnast Paul Hamm's dad nabs burglar at Waukesha home
The father of Olympic gymnasts Paul and Morgan Hamm caught a burglar who broke into his Waukesha home to steal his wife's painkillers, court records show.
Sandy Hamm set up cameras in the house after his wife, Colleen, noticed some of her hydrocodone pills had disappeared on Oct. 23 and Oct. 25.
On Sunday morning, Colleen Hamm pretended to leave the home, while Sandy Hamm hid in the basement, according to a criminal complaint.
The complaint says at 10:18 a.m., a woman, Amanda Michell, allegedly entered the home and went upstairs where the pills were. Sandy Hamm caught her and secured her hands with cable ties so she couldn't escape until police arrived.
Michell, 35, of Waukesha, is a coworker of Colleen Hamm's, and she admitted an addiction to painkillers, the complaint says. She is charged with three counts of burglary.
