Downtown Waukesha trick-or-treating is Saturday afternoon

Trick-or-treating takes place in the city and town of Waukesha on Halloween night.

But kids can get an early start to their candy collection during the downtown's annual trick-or-treat event on Saturday.

Various stores and businesses will be participating in the event, which takes place from 1 to 3 p.m.

Participating businesses typically have posters in their windows signaling their involvement.

Before that, the Waukesha Farmers Market will wrap up its 2013 season at the Riverfront Plaza.

The Farmers Market has been taking place every Saturday since the beginning of May.

More than 150 vendors have been part of the market this year, the most in its nearly 15-year history.

The market, open from 8 a.m. to noon, is located along the south side of the Fox River at the Riverfront Plaza, between W. Broadway St. and N. Barstow St. along the banks of the Fox River.

This was the first year the Waukesha Downtown Business Association ran the event. It was previously operated by the now-disbanded downtown Waukesha Business Improvement District.
