Town of Waukesha postpones decision on water service area
The Waukesha Town Board has postponed until April 29 a vote to reconsider how much land to include in the City of Waukesha's water service area.
The city set an April 30 deadline - next Tuesday - for town officials to establish a boundary for the service area in the town. Designation of the service area is a necessary step in the city's request for Great Lakes water.
Owners of property within the service area would have an option of connecting to city water or sewer services if they encounter problems with a private well or septic field.
In late January, the Town Board decided to include only a small northern portion of the town in the service area.
Town Chairman John Marek was elected April 2 on a platform to include most of the town in the city's water service area. He is pushing the board to rescind its earlier vote.
