Power has been restored to about 8,400 We Energies customers in Brookfield along the border with New Berlin, We Energy spokesman Brian Manthey said Friday.

The power failure occurred about 11:15 a.m. and was restored at 12:40 p.m.

Manthey said the problem was a fault in a piece of equipment on a pole that then sent a signal down the line to the substation, which knocked out power along the line. The pole was located in the Calhoun Road/Lincoln Ave. area, he said.

Customers affected live largely along the border between Brookfield and New Berlin, along the areas of Lincoln and Greenfield avenues and Calhoun Road, he said.
