Harlem Ambassadors set to entertain fans at Waukesha South Wednesday

Published on: 9/24/2012

The Harlem Ambassadors, a world-basketball traveling show, is all about putting on high-flying entertainment with its slam dunks, ball-handling tricks and comedy routines.

But the team is also about their message of staying in school, staying off drugs and fostering racial harmony.

They promote this message during their stops at schools during their tours.

The tour will come to Waukesha South High School on Wednesday night.

While the Harlem Ambassadors will probably be new to most in attendance, its opponents on the Waukesha Wonders team are familiar names.

The Wonders team, which will be coached by former City of Waukesha Mayor Carol Lombardi, features the likes of Waukesha Mayor Jeff Scrima, Waukesha School District Superintendent Todd Gray, Waukesha Police Chief Russell Jack, Acting Fire Chief Steve Howard, South Principal Tim Joynt, North Principal Jody Landish, as well as other Waukesha School District administrators, among other local “celebrities.”

The game begins at 7 p.m. at the Waukesha South Fieldhouse, 401 E. Roberta Ave. Will call opens at 6 p.m. and doors open at 6:20 p.m.

Advanced ticket prices include $6 for seniors (55 and up) and students (K through 12th grade) and $8 for adults. Children 4 years old and younger are free. There is a $2 ticket increase at the door the night of the event.

Ticket sales go to support Waukesha South’s Project Graduation and Student Council.
