A Waukesha man has been arrested for driving drunk and killing a woman in a stalled vehicle early Saturday, according to the Waukesha Police Department.

The driver, Edgar Montano, 28, struck a car that had run out of gas near the intersection of Highway 59 and E. Broadway, police said. A female victim was ejected from the stalled vehicle and later died at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Another victim was treated at the hospital and released. Police have not identified the victims.

Waukesha police Lt. Kevin Kober said Montano fled from the scene and was found a short time later and arrested Saturday night.

Waukesha police said they would seek charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle and hit and run, causing death.
