Guitars from Les Paul's personal collection and recording equipment owned by the pioneering musician will be sold at auction.

Celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien says the sale includes rare guitars, effects pedals, mixing consoles and the grand piano from Paul's home recording studio. Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, Calif., will host the sale June 8 and 9; June 9 would have been the Waukesha native's 97th birthday.

The guitars and equipment will be available for free public view at Julien's Beverly Hills location May 29 through June 8, according to the auction house's website.

The auction benefits the New York City-based Les Paul Foundation.
