The road to Madison goes through two Waukesha schools.

Yes, all the girls basketball teams from the four Waukesha high schools have been eliminated, but two area schools (Waukesha South and Waukesha North) are host sites for the sectional round, the last stop before teams compete for a state title at the Kohl Center.

In Division 1, Arrowhead (21-3) meets Nicolet (21-3) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Waukesha South High School.

Arrowhead, the top-ranked team in its regional, shared the Classic 8 conference title with Pius XI and defeated Germantown and Menomonee Falls to reach the sectional semifinals.

Nicolet, seeded second in the regional, shared the North Shore Conference title with Grafton and Whitefish Bay and defeated Waukesha South and Waukesha West to reach this level. The Knights are also the defending state champions.

In Division 2, Whitefish Bay (20-4) faces Wauwatosa West (13-11) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Waukesha North in a sectional semifinal contest.

The Blue Dukes, seeded No. 1 in this regional, won a share of the North Shore Conference championship and defeated Shorewood and Brown Deer to get to this round.

Wauwatosa West was seeded third in this regional and pulled off an upset over second-seeded Wisconsin Lutheran in the regional title game. The Trojans finished third in the Woodland Black Division with a 9-8 league mark.

The winner of that game will face the winner of the New Berlin Eisenhower (24-0)/New Berlin West (18-6) matchup for a berth in the WIAA Division 2 state tournament.

That sectional final is 1 p.m. Saturday at Waukesha South.

Eisenhower is led by Wisconsin recruit Nicole Bauman, who has already won one state player of the year award and should be collecting many more in the weeks to come.

Waukesha South is located at 401 E. Roberta Ave. and Waukesha North is at 2222 Michigan Avenue.
