Artists for Waukesha's Gibson GuitarTown Project to be announced Monday at Key Westconsin

The guitars for the Gibson GuitarTown Project have been here for a few weeks and its locations have been selected.

All that needed to be done was to announce the artists who will decorate the guitars.

That announcement will come Monday afternoon at a public reception at Key Westconsin in downtown Waukesha, 331 Riverfront Plaza.

There will be a meet and greet with the artists from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Waukesha restaurant. The 30 artists will then take their guitars and begin decorating them in preparation for the May 31 ceremony when they will be unveiled over a two-day ceremony.

Once the 10, 10-foot tall fiberglass sculpture-like guitars are unveiled, they will be on display in downtown as a walking tour. The 20 Les Paul playable guitars will be put in downtown businesses and will be auctioned off for local charities.

Almont Gallery owner Lynn Gaffey, who also serves as a member of the Gibson GuitarTown steering committee, was the main person who selected the artists.

In other news relating to the project, the steering committee has named the firm, Clear Verve to help provide strategic marketing and media relations support to the Waukesha GuitarTown Project.

Clear Verve will work with the Waukesha GuitarTown Committee, City of Waukesha, Downtown Waukesha Business Association, Waukesha Convention & Visitors Bureau, Waukesha BID and the Gibson Foundation Public Relations Department to plan and execute marketing communications strategies.

The Elm Grove-based firm specializes in Promise Marketing – working with service providers, not for profits, community organizations, custom manufacturers and high end retailers.

The City of Waukesha is no stranger to Clear Verve.

Clear Verve has worked with the Waukesha BID to support, promote and market the revitalization of downtown’s businesses, organizations and retailers. They have also worked with UW-Waukesha on ways to better market the university after a change in leadership in 2010.
