HR Committee selects its national search firm for city administrator position

Colin Baenziger & Associates was chosen by the HR Committee Wednesday night as the national firm that will help them in its search for Waukesha's next city administrator.

The Florida-based firm was selected over the Illinois-based Voorhees Associates and Slavin Management Consultants, a firm in Georgia.

The HR Committee made this recommendation to Mayor Jeff Scrima and it will be brought before the Common Council at its next meeting, which is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.

Members of the HR Committee met with CBA as well as Slavin last Saturday, while it interviewed Voorhees at a scheduled meeting last night.

In addition to assisting the HR Committee in narrowing a field of candidates to relieve Community Development Director Steve Crandell of his duties as the interim city administrator, CBA will help the Common Council with the description of the position and come to a conclusion on who that person will report to in the future.

After a closed-door meeting in the summer of 2010, the city administrator position was restructed so that then-city administrator, Lori Luther, reported to the council instead of the mayor.

That decision stripped Scrima from a supervisor role over Luther.

After Luther resigned from her position last August, Scrima has asked the council to change its stance on the position's job description.
