A 62-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle Wednesday when illegally crossing East Avenue toward Broadway Avenue.
She was transported by the Waukesha Fire Department to Waukesha Memorial Hospital where she was being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
A press release from the Waukesha Police Department said the victim crossed from the area of the Hope Center (502 N. East Ave) - a place that provides relief to the homeless - in a diagonal fashion and headed toward Broadway.
The pedestrian was initially missed by one southbound vehicle, but a northbound vehicle then struck her.
The release said the victim and operator both appeared to be sober and the case was still under investigation.
Sergeant Gerald F. Habanek of the Waukesha Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division said "this was the ninth accident that the Waukesha Police Department has responded to today since 3 p.m."
