Criticare Systems Inc., a medical products company, is reducing its Waukesha workforce by 42 employees. The office will remain open and continue to employ 140 people.

Of the 42 people losing their jobs in Waukesha, 21 will be offered employment at the company's Deerfield location, the Department of Workforce Development said Thursday.

The 42 jobs will be eliminated on or after June 1.

Criticare officials did not return a call asking for more information.

The company is a subsidiary of Opto Circuits LLC of Bangalore, India, which acquired Criticare in April 2008.

Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Criticare is closing its Waukesha office. Its offices at N7-W22025 Johnson Drive, Waukesha, will remain open. The incorrect information was provided by the Department of Workforce Development.
