Altercation days earlier preceded Waukesha woman's death, police say
Waukesha - The husband of a Waukesha woman found dead at her home Tuesday morning had been arrested three days earlier for a verbal and physical altercation with his wife, police said Wednesday.
Police arrested him for violating a no-contact order issued when he was released on $150 bail in that incident.
The woman, found dead at the bottom of stairs in her home on W. College Ave., was identified Wednesday as Ginger Brannon. She was 47.
Her husband, John F. Brannon, 46, called police about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday to report he'd found his wife apparently dead.
Police Capt. Dennis Angle said the husband told police she had been drinking and using prescription drugs, but Angle added, "We're not treating this as an overdose."
Police are still investigating the case and are awaiting autopsy and toxicology results.
Angle said police were called to the Brannon home Saturday for a domestic abuse incident and he was immediately taken into custody. After he posted bail and was released, he was read a standard form that prohibits contact with the victim, Angle said.
John Brannon also has a case pending in Waukesha County Circuit Court for a felony hit-and-run accident involving injuries on Oct. 29 and four misdemeanors for causing injuring while operating under the influence of alcohol as a first offense. He had posted $1,000 cash bail on Nov. 10 in that case, and a hearing is set for Dec. 13.
