The Fur (& Feather!) Flyer

Established in 1965, HAWS assists over 6,000 animals and welcomes more than 31,000 human visitors annually. As an "open admissions" shelter we lead the community in animal welfare and assure sanctuary for all animals in need, regardless of age, health or temperament. HAWS is a non-profit, entirely donor-fund organization with an active humane education program, and both wildlife and companion animal rescue services for Waukesha County.

HAWS steps-to-it in March with a full calendar of activities and fundraisers for pets and their people.

HAWS’ Rodent Rally is Saturday, March 1st beginning at 1:00pm. Guest speaker Dr. Nicole Mueller, of Brook-Falls Veterinary Hospital and Exotic Care, will discuss all things rat, mouse, hamster and gerbil! During the Rally attendees will also have the chance to interact with the many small pets available for adoption at HAWS. Admission is free; donations to HAWS’ Small Animal Fund are welcome.

The Friends of HAWS Multi-Media Sale will ‘play out’ on Saturday, March 15th from 10am-3pm. Purchase new and gently used CDs, DVDs, video games, books and magazines. All proceeds benefit HAWS.

The 4th annual Extreme Makeover: HAWS Edition is Sunday, March 23rd. Groomers compete using HAWS’ adoptable dogs as their canvas. Work begins at noon; judging is completed by 4:00 p.m. This FREE event also includes a doggie treat bake sale. Come watch the transformation from ‘fuzzy to fabulous’!

HAWS’ Annual Bunny Day is Sunday, March 30th, from noon – 4:00 p.m. Spend a day learning the Bunny basics, win prizes, meet adoptable rabbits and more. Presented by HAWS and the Wisconsin House Rabbit Society, admission is $5 for adults; children under 12 free with parent. This event is for bunny caregivers only, please leave companion rabbits comfortably at home.

Highlighting HAWS’ Mobile Adoption Center visits in March is the annual Dog Day at the Milwaukee Admirals on Sunday, March 30th. Gametime is 5pm – purchase tickets for you and your best canine companion to benefit HAWS through the link at hawspets.org or call Brian of the Admirals at 414-227-0567.

Help HAWS raise $10,000 in 10 weeks for Annie’s Fund! As Waukesha County’s only open admission and full service shelter, HAWS often takes in animals needing medical treatment and life-saving care. Annie’s Fund ensures those animals aren’t turned away. Donate at hawspets.org or call 262-542-8851 for details.

By the way - HAWS’ March calendar gives everyone a reason to step up for HAWS, with seminars, ‘pet’-icures, dog training and so much more. All the details are at hawspets.org. Join us!
