be the catalyst

A couple dozen artists, the community and Carroll students past and present took over Maxon Hall on the campus Friday evening. It was my first and last time visiting the old, stone building at the corner of Barstow and College.

Not so much the artists' paint on every surface which is soon to disappear, but the freedom of expression, freedom to be different, to disagree, to mourn the loss of a great building and memories in it, or happy it's finally gone to be replaced by something bigger and better. The catalyst for change, for a short while, is in our control. I can't think of a more fitting send off for a building where so many have come to learn. It has taught us so much in it's final lesson.
