Make your dollars stretch a little further

On March 13 a wonderful event will happen throughout the Greater Milwaukee Region.  It's called Match Day, and it will result in nonprofit organizations that provide basic needs and services receiving a much-needed financial boost.

The Greater Milwaukee Foundation launched Match Day in 2012 as a way of leveraging community donations to provide support to organizations such as shelters and food pantries.  According to their website, anyone can make a donation on March 13 or schedule a donation to happen on March 13.  Support from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and a long list of other supporters will provide a match to the donation, based on how much each agency receives.

What's extra great about this program is that it comes at the end of the first quarter of the year, when donations are typically low but  organizations are still receiving lots of requests for help.  In Waukesha County you can choose to donate to The Womens Center, Hebron House of Hospitality, the Food Pantry of Waukesha County, and Hope Center.  Every one of these agencies provides services that touch the lives of the clients we serve at Interfaith Senior Programs and many other organizations in Waukesha County.  So I encourage you to give generously through Match Day.

I'm scheduling my donations today for all four agencies.  Maybe one of my donations will win the Golden Ticket so that an additional $1,000 goes to support our community!
