Conservatively Speaking

State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.

Wisconsin’s Career and Technical Student Organizations

Thursday, I had the pleasure of meeting Joseph Meeha and Cheyenne Makai to discuss benefits of Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO).

Joseph and Cheyenne are articulate and enthusiastic leaders for their organizations.  Cheyenne, Muskego, is the state reporter for the FBLA, an association of business students, with 207 Wisconsin chapters comprised of over 7,000 student members.

CTSO provides an opportunity for students to develop lifelong leadership and technical skills, through classroom curriculum, activities, and community resources.  Students showcase their skills and knowledge during competitive events at district, regional, state, and national levels.  CTSOs opportunities are available to elementary, middle school, and high school students.

Wisconsin has six state and nationally recognized CTSOs:

·       Wisconsin DECA, the Association of marketing Students

·       Skills USA, the Association of Technology and Engineering Students

·       FBLA, the Association if Business Students

·       HOSA, the Association of Health Science Students

·       FCCLA , the Association of Family and Consumer Science Students

·       FFA, the Association of Agricultural Education Students
