musical masterpieces

As the photos emerge of GuitarTown playable guitars and sculptures I am in awe. I can't believe the quality, variety and creativity Waukesha is getting. My original fear was "what if we get some clunkers we'll have to look at for the next couple years, and all this effort wasted?" I clearly underestimated the talent of local artists and organizers for putting the best of them together.

There's no way they are doing it for the money. Look at the detail in Tom Noll's creation and tell me how many hundreds of hours he's putting into it?

And I love the hardware, woodwork and thought process in Chuck Weber's Steampunk Guitar. A joy to imagine how it's supposed to work. Les could figure it out I'm sure.

With ten 10-foot sculptures and twenty playable guitars there is quite a variety - truly something for everyone, and I can't wait to see them up close. Many of the photos are available for viewing on Waukesha GuitarTown's flickr photostream. There's also been several recent articles. Saturday's front page Freeman story complete with timeline and another with sponsorship details. Today, in the Journal Sentinel, Laurel Walker wrote about some of the history, controversy and future of the project. All articles contain great photos.
