Conservatively Speaking

State Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) represents parts of four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, and Walworth. Her Senate District 28 includes New Berlin, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, Muskego, Waterford, Big Bend, the town of Vernon and parts of Greenfield, East Troy, and Mukwonago. Senator Lazich has been in the Legislature for more than a decade. She considers herself a tireless crusader for lower taxes, reduced spending and smaller government.

There Is Some Science Behind New Years Resolutions

According to researchers at the University of Scranton, 40 to 45% of American adults make one or more New Year's resolutions each year.

Among the top resolutions are resolutions about weight loss, exercise, and stopping smoking.  Also popular are resolutions about money management and debt reduction.

Resolution maintenance fades.  The following is resolution management as time advances:
- past the first week: 75%
- past 2 weeks: 71%
- after one month: 64%
- after 6 months: 46%

While some resolutions are forgotten, research shows that making resolutions is useful.  People making resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain goals than people not making resolutions.
